It started with a single, frustratingly simple question: "Should I lease this car, or put the same money into a Fixed Deposit?" The math behind that question turned out to be anything but simple. It depended on interest rates, lease tenure, residual values, compounding frequency, and tax treatment - all of which vary wildly depending on where you live.
We looked for an existing tool. There were plenty of loan calculators and FD calculators, but nothing that did the direct comparison in one place, let alone across multiple currencies and tax regimes.
The Problem With Existing Tools
Most financial calculators are built for one country, one currency, and one specific product type. A US-based car lease calculator won't help someone in Sri Lanka comparing a vehicle lease against an FD earning 10% annually. A UK savings calculator doesn't account for Sri Lankan withholding tax on interest.
We wanted a tool that was genuinely global one that adapted to your context rather than forcing you to adapt to it. So we built one.
Free, Private, and Open
From the start, we made deliberate choices about what LeaseVsFD would not be. No accounts. No data collection. Every single calculation runs entirely in your browser. We never see your numbers, and we never will.
We also support over 50 currencies out of the box, because good financial decisions aren't limited to one market. Whether you're doing a lease comparison in Colombo, calculating EMI in Mumbai, or working out income tax in the UK, the tools adapt to your context.
Every tool on LeaseVsFD is 100% free, runs in your browser, and requires no account or sign-up.
From One Calculator to a Full Suite
What started as a single lease vs FD comparison tool has grown into a suite of four calculators covering fixed deposits, loan EMI, and income tax. Each one follows the same philosophy: accurate math, clean UI, privacy-first, globally useful.
We're continuously expanding based on what users actually need. If there's a financial calculation that's been bugging you, reach out via the contact page. We'd love to hear from you.
